Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about how Fortera works, who it's for, and what it costs to bring onto the shop floor.

What is Fortera?
Fortera is an autonomous AI procurement agent for small manufacturers. When your inventory drops below the threshold you set, Fortera receives the low-stock alert, drafts a purchase order for the right part from the right supplier, and drops that draft into your dashboard for review. You approve, edit, or reject every PO — nothing leaves without your sign-off. The agent handles the chase so your buyer, your floor lead, and your owner can stop spending their week on parts.
Who is Fortera for?
Fortera is built for small job shops — typically 10 to 50 people on the floor, running custom or short-run work where parts come from a handful of trusted local and regional suppliers. We designed it for the McHenry/Lake County corridor and the dozens of similar small-job-shop markets that the big ERP vendors ignore. If your buyer still chases POs over email and your owner still signs off on every order, you're the customer we built this for.
How do the 3 pricing tiers work?
Three plans, sized to your shop: Starter at $299/month for 1–2 person teams handling under 50 POs/mo with one supplier integration; Shop at $599/month for 5–15 person shops running 50–200 POs/mo with up to five supplier integrations (the most popular plan); and Floor at $999/month for 20–50 person multi-site operations with unlimited POs, unlimited supplier integrations, custom approval workflows, and dedicated onboarding. See the full breakdown on the pricing page.
How long does onboarding take?
A week from kickoff to your first drafted PO. Day one is connecting your parts catalog and supplier directory; by the end of the week you've imported or triggered your first low-stock alert and watched the agent draft a real purchase order against your existing workflow. If you'd rather feel it before you commit, the demo walks through the alert-to-draft-to-approve flow in about 5 minutes with sample parts and suppliers.
What about integrations, security, and my data?
Fortera is in MVP phase. Today you trigger low-stock alerts through our API or import data via CSV; direct connectors to ERPs and inventory systems (Fishbowl, Cin7, SAP Business One) are on the roadmap. Every account's data is isolated on the same Neon Postgres backend Fortera runs on, every PO carries a full audit trail from alert to approval to supplier email, and the human-in-the-loop approval gate is mandatory — no PO leaves the system without an authorized user clicking approve. Your catalog, your suppliers, your suppliers' pricing stay yours.
